The city gave its best times and
sites to the river and the sea, but it also gave its best times and
spaces to everybody who came along the river and from the sea. The
city gave all of them joy and youth, both summers and the shine in
the eyes of a child. And the city gave the festival. The festival
is forty years old. It is called the International Children's Festival
Šibenik - Croatia.
To make the festival possible, the old city theatre received actors and puppeteers
and musicians into itself four decades ago, filled its auditorium with children
and bowed its knee to Its Majesty the Play. And when it was not enough, the festival
left the theatre building 130 years old and spread through the streets and
squares, making a theatre out of the city, making them equal, living between
dreams and reality.
Since then, you can meet a puppet and an actor in city crowds in any moment
of the day, mingling with the citizens of Šibenik and their guests, walking
towards dreams, turning into dreams, making dreams real and giving them out
as gifts. You will meet Alice, just arrived from the Wonderland, the mischievous
Pinocchio will peer around the corner, Kekec will sing his merry song, Popeye
the Sailor will blow his pipe and eat spinach, Peter Pan will take you to his
misterious Neverland ... Festival
